Moving Out?

RVA Property Management must be notified in writing of your intent to vacate the property. Refer to your lease for exact notice requirements.

Rent Residents are responsible for rent up to the lease termination date. If rent is not paid on or before the 5th of each month, late fees will be applied.

Utilities All utilities must remain on, in your name, through the lease termination date, regardless of your actual vacate date. If utilities are not left on, additional fees may be charged.

Keys All keys and garage remotes should be left on the kitchen counter at move out.

Prior to surrendering the property, the following should be completed:

• Property should be completely cleaned.
• All property (including trash from outside cans) must be removed from the property.
• Lawn should be mowed, all bushes and shrubs should be trimmed, and flowerbeds should be weeded.
• A/C Filters should be replaced with new filters.
• Replace any missing/broken/non-working light bulbs, window blinds, stove drip pans, smoke detectors/batteries, door stops, and drain stoppers.
• Any rooms painted without authorization or under condition of being returned to the original color, should be repainted back to the original color. Walls should be free of major scuffs and gouges; nails/screws should be removed from the wall.
• Lock all doors and windows when you vacate.

Extensions If a resident wishes to stay longer than the lease termination date, residents must first contact our office to see if this extension is acceptable. If the extension is acceptable, the resident must sign an addendum stating the new lease termination date. The resident will be responsible for all rent through the new lease termination date.

Early Departure If a resident vacates prior to the lease termination date, notify our office immediately and turn in all keys.

Move Out Survey A move out survey will be scheduled within 72 hours of your vacate date. You will be notified in writing of the date and time of the Move Out Survey.
